Here’s an actual crime scene clean up call and project we received this year.

In Baltimore we were called in for a double homicide where a boy friend killed his girlfriend. We don’t why he killed his girl friend, but how he killed her tells volumes of how upset he was .

We can not tell you the names or addresses of the victims. The purpose of this paper is to describe the situation why it is difficult to clean up the crime scene your self.

From what we could see the crime started as a stabbing in the bedroom, where the victims were fighting to the basement. The blood trail describes the fight.

The boy friend who was stabbing the girlfriend ended taking a pistol and shot himself in the head. We are sorry to say no one survived.

The problem in cleaning this situation is that we don’t know the health of both individuals. This makes cleaning and making a crime scene a challenge.

Diseases ranging from Hepatitis to AIDS can easily enter any entrance of the body.

Instead of taking that 1 out of 100 chances, crime scene cleanup experts, take precautions.

Covering from head to toe with specially designed protective clothing, an accident plan, and safe areas are a required and smart concepts.

Accidents can happen and when you are dealing with biohazard clean up situations, anything can happen.

Remember we are not just cleaning up with a rag, but making sure that all affected areas are removed. Any item that is biohazard affected must be removed including wood floors, carpet, drywall, etc. Crime scene cleaners actually act like a CSI episode.

Although they are looking for who did the crime, they want to make sure that all remaining evidence of the trauma scene has been removed for health issues.

That means following the trail until all biohazard materials has been removed.

That may mean removing subfloors as well.

It is the responsibility of the crime scene cleaner to bag and return to the coroner any body parts that were not removed before clean up.
