Crime Scene Cleaning: What to watch for !!!

Believe it or not crime scene cleaning as a business seems to get larger every year. There are actually two well known schools that teach crime scene cleaning.

The reason for an increase of crime scene clean up and biohazard clean opportunities , is due to the issue of AIDS and other serious diseases caused by body fluids.

OSHA and public concern has made it more challenging for the non trained employee and housekeeper to clean up after the body fluids that have “ spilled “.

You noticed that I used the term “ body fluids “. It’s not just blood , but any body liquid and body part that contain life threatening illness.

If you do happen to connect to a biohazard or crime scene cleaning situation, please take these tips in consideration.

1) When trying to clean up the body fluids yourself without proper training and knowledge, it’s like Russian Roulette. Yes you may get lucky and not get ill, but as Clint Eastwood said, “ Do you feel lucky punk!”

2) When hiring an outside company remember that they need to show a certificate of insurance of proper insurance such as environmental insurance, workman’s comp insurance, liability insurance and yes auto insurance. If some one they hire gets hurt or they hurt someone, or if they don’t do a good job and hurt someone, ask your insurance agent you will be in trouble.

3) If a company is not an ABRA member ( association of crime scene cleaners) , good chance they are not certified and trained correctly. It’s so important because if the company does an incomplete job and someone walks into you’re dwelling and get infected, your in trouble. Not just legally, but your guest may have an illness that can’t be cured.

There are more tips that I will add later.
