Smart Property Manager Saves The  Day"

Sally ( yes she is a real person ), is a property manager that I just talked to last week. She described to me how she solved an emergency situation quickly and avoided a possible horrific disaster. Here's her story:

Years ago in the middle of the night, a Tornadeo hit a couple of buildings tearing off roofs, flooding, and displacing residences.

As you can imagine the mania. Everyone at once was yelling and screaming at her. The police and the fire department needed her attention as well. This is the ultimate test for any property manager.

What impressed me the most, was her ability to sort out from all the confusion the second most important thing besides removing humans and pets, turning off the gas supply.

Her first action was to remove residences from the buildings. Her second action was to turn off the gas for each building. If she didn't think about turning off the gas in the buildings immediately, there could have been a larger issue and possible loss of life.

Now some property managers may comment that was common sense. But remember that in the middle of the night, and with a multiple of " screaming issues " surrounding you, human's will forget.

What's the lesson we can all learn from this property manager smart thinking?

Write a disaster plan now, because when a disaster happens it's too late.

Add this issue to your plan and describe step by step how I, could easily walk on to your property, find the gas valve and safely turn it off during an emergency.

My point is to search for all possible problems and describe how to solve them in writing in a disaster plan.
